Cybersecurity specialists collaborating in a mountain operations center

About Guardian

Cybersecurity is the only thing we do.

Not a technology reseller. Not an IT firm that bolts security onto the portfolio. Our mission is simple: stop attackers from reaching your business, and the people who run it.

A specialist, not a generalist

Built around the risk, not around a product catalog.

Guardian is a cybersecurity services company. Cybersecurity is all we do.

Cybersecurity is a business issue, not a technology issue. It is difficult, fast-moving work that deserves people who practice it every day.

The industry calls us an MSSP. We push back on that. Most MSSPs monitor and alert. Guardian operates across the full cybersecurity spectrum. We play offense and defense, with an emphasis on getting ahead of threats before they reach you.

We put experienced cybersecurity professionals on your side, backed by best-of-breed technology and a methodology built to cover what traditional managed security misses.

01

Business first

Start with what could interrupt growth, trust, operations, or leadership accountability.

02

Outside in

See the organization the way an attacker does, including exposure beyond the managed perimeter.

03

Full lifecycle

Connect preparation, prediction, protection, recovery, and response under one operating model.

Aspen trees connected by a luminous root network

The Aspen Forest Effect™

It looks like thousands of trees. Underground, it's one living thing.

During a trip to the mountains of New Mexico and Colorado, our CEO Chuck Smith learned something that changed how he thought about cybersecurity. An aspen forest looks like thousands of individual trees, but it isn't. Underground, the roots are all connected. The entire forest is a single living organism. What stresses one part can weaken the whole.

Chuck saw the same pattern in modern business infrastructure. Your company isn't a collection of separate systems. Your cloud providers, SaaS applications, vendors, business partners, and employee identities are all connected. One ecosystem, whether you manage it that way or not.

And just like an aspen forest, a threat that reaches one part of that system can spread to everything it touches. That's The Aspen Forest Effect™.

Most cybersecurity still treats your business as a collection of individual trees, guarding one device at a time, watching for trouble, securing the perimeter. But your risk doesn't stop at the perimeter. It runs through every connection and relationship that keeps your business running.

Guardian was built on that understanding.

Why Guardian

Five things we will not compromise.

01

We start with business risk

Most providers lead with tools and dashboards. We start with what a breach actually costs you: operationally, legally, and reputationally.

02

Offense and defense

Most managed security waits. Guardian hunts the hunters and closes exposure before they reach a system.

03

One accountable team

A connected ecosystem cannot be protected by disconnected providers. Guardian covers the spectrum under one methodology.

04

Zero vendor bias

We are not locked into one vendor's stack, and we do not have a quota to fill. You get honest recommendations.

05

AI-enhanced. Human-led.

Automation makes our team faster. It does not replace the team. Experienced professionals make the decisions.

Leadership

The people who carry the work.

Chuck Smith

President & CEO

Chuck Smith

Chuck is a former Army Ranger who spent decades in data center and cloud infrastructure, building companies and opening new markets while watching cybersecurity get treated as an afterthought. He founded Guardian to change that: a company where cybersecurity isn’t a bolt-on but the entire operation. He’s the architect behind The Aspen Forest Effect™ and the ZoneDefense™ methodology that shows leaders where their security spend is working, where it isn’t, and where it should go next.

Cameron Brown

CRO

Cameron Brown

Cameron is a U.S. Air Force Academy graduate who spent the early part of his career as a developmental test and evaluation engineer on two of the most complex defense programs in U.S. history, the B-2 Stealth Bomber and the F-22 Raptor. That background in high-security, precision-driven operations carried directly into his commercial career in data center operations and telecommunications. At Guardian, he brings the same operational discipline to cybersecurity delivery that classified defense programs demand.

Jarret Hinrichs

CTO

Jarret Hinrichs

Jarret has spent 25 years inside data centers, engineering and managing the infrastructure that companies depend on. He rose from systems engineer to running operations across multiple data center environments serving commercial and federal clients, managing thousands of servers and the security around them. As Guardian’s CTO, he’s the person who makes sure what we promise is what we deliver.

Pamela Roman

VP of Marketing

Pamela Roman

Pam started her career in broadcast news, then spent twelve years in the City of Jacksonville, earning marketing and communications appointments from three consecutive mayors. She brings more than 20 years of experience building brands and driving growth, with a track record that spans public sector, healthcare, and technology. At Guardian, she’s the reason the message reaches the people who need to hear it.

Our culture

A small team, on purpose.

Everyone here is close to the work, close to the clients, and close to leadership. There's no layer between the people doing the work and the people setting the direction. When clients engage Guardian, they're getting the team, not a bench.

This is a veteran-led company. That shows up in how we operate: accountability is personal, commitments are kept, and the mission is not a slide deck. It is the standard the work gets measured against.

Giving back

Special Olympics Texas, through 2029.

Our involvement did not start as a corporate initiative. It started because people on this team have real, personal ties to the Special Olympics community. Cameron Brown has coached his son Ian's team, the Hill Country Stars, for more than a decade. Chuck Smith spoke at the SOTX Summer Games press conference. The whole team shows up as volunteers, coaches, and fans.

Guardian is the presenting sponsor of the Special Olympics Texas Summer Games through 2029. We've opened our FC Dallas suite to organizations like Best Buddies in Texas and Howdy Homemade Ice Cream. None of this was mapped out in a marketing plan. It came from caring about it.

What we've found is that these commitments give back in ways we didn't expect. The team has something to care about together. There's a different kind of energy in the work. Guardian feels like more than a company.
